    It all started with a blind date that went well. My sisters and I were having a party and my sister, Mildered, was being hooked up with a man named Regis. When the party started and Regis and his friends arrived, Regis did not speak gently. It was me. Even though he was four years older than me, we started dating, it was great. We had been dating for about two years when Régis came to my house and told me the news. I remember vividly that it was a sunny day in September and we were planning to go to the park for a picnic with our friends. When I opened the door, I knew something was wrong. “Is everything okay?” I asked. He sighed lightly and then asked if we could go sit on the swing. When we were both on the swing, he spoke in a very solemn voice: “Mary Rita, I received a letter today, it was from the US Army. I was drafted into the army. I have to report to work in exactly five days. All I could do was nod and say we'll get through this. I had to believe that everything would be okay because if I didn't, I would be unhappy the whole time that he was gone. I kept going....
