Essay / Analysis of the representation of the South Park series - 1144
Along with relationships, the main focus of the episode was immigration to America. Normally, if someone mentions immigration, most people automatically think of illegal or undocumented immigrants from Hispanic countries. Yet that's what brings the humor to this episode: instead of Hispanics, it's Canadians who are considered undocumented immigrants. Most people think of immigrants as Hispanics from Mexico, but a few, due to current global issues, classify immigrants as legal immigrants, Hispanics, refugees, and other unstable people. South Park addresses social issues in today's world and uses satire to create its episode. South Park mocks the issue of immigration by replacing Hispanics with Canadians and having Canada build a wall to keep immigrants out of its country, on the orders of a character who looks and acts like Donald Trump. The amount of satire and irony put forth by South Park is similar to what some Americans think of our neighbors to the North and North.
