Over the centuries, civilization has had a predominant number of successful entrepreneurs. From Steve Job's technological revolution to Walt Disney's lucrative entertainment business; such are those who are revolutionizing their own businesses, cultivating them to reside in today's thriving market. But beyond this substantiveness lies an even more intriguing question: “Are [these] entrepreneurs a special breed, born into this world with a drive and need to succeed […], or can they be created through education, experience and mentoring? » (Daley 2013, p. 65). Clearly, this deep debate over whether successful entrepreneurship comes from nature or nurture has resulted in a division of sentiment. One of these stems from Professor James V. Koch's notion suggesting that entrepreneurs are born “with a specific set of genes and characteristics” (Vennare 2014). As Koch puts it, “some individuals are simply more naturally suited to becoming entrepreneurs” because “they are pre-wired” with an entrepreneurial gene (Kihara 2014). However, this challenges an opposing school of thought championed by Professor Julian Lange, that entrepreneurs are created and can be taught. Lange's assertion stems from the belief that individuals can discover their entrepreneurial passion in a classroom setting and see their entrepreneurial skills and abilities enhanced through teaching and practice (Daley 2013).
