This short essay aims to find the most important transferable key skill, by researching the pros and cons of four key skills that every manager must acquire. communication, organization, leadership and ability to work in a team. Let’s start by understanding what a transferable skill is? Transferable skills are a versatile set of individual skills that can be learned through a variety of different experiences. An example of the type of places where you could learn and acquire transferable skills could be play and participation in sport, education, work life and family upbringing. Every day we communicate with each other. this is done in different ways, whether through words, actions or even expressions. For a good and effective manager, communication helps create and maintain the operations of the organization, through two-way conversation. “imposing one-way communication on people without them understanding them and without understanding them leads to poor management” (Torkildsen, 2011 P.348). There are four different types of communication between them: verbal, non-verbal, formal and informal. The four forms of management perspective communication can be used to communicate authoritative information or knowledge, to delegate responsibilities and tasks, and to provide important information. However, as stated by Aquino (2000), conflict is the main disadvantage of workplace communication. Staff members may use communication to argue and disagree with each other and with management.
