Good art allows me to escape the realms of reality. In the limitless awareness of my mind, I can escape the mundanity of everyday life. It opens a door in my head to a world limited only by my imagination. I am no longer a slave to gravity, chained to the earth when I read. I can be a bird and soar above the clouds, or be a fish and swim deep into the darkest depths of the ocean. I'm here, I'm this person, and everything else around me, whatever it is, disappears. Sometimes these are the people I wish I were, but sometimes I encounter nefarious characters that I totally condemn. I am able to feel the emotions that the artist wants me to feel. However, it’s not just about reading or listening, but about understanding and considering everything I can about a work of art – which I find enjoyable. I recently finished reading “The Grapes of Wrath” by John Steinbeck.
