Racial tensions are one of the major problems in the United States today. For several centuries, this has been an internal problem in this country that has caused racial conflict and disunity among people. Many people think that racism is a thing of the past. If issues of racial discrimination and tensions are not resolved, minorities risk feeling treated differently. As promoters of youth, institutions should encourage mutual understanding and tolerance between races by organizing a Racial Harmony Week event that brings together people from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds to participate in activities promoting mutual understanding and respect among students of all races and cultures.
