1. Introduction1.1. Objectives of the Study The aim of this study is to transcribe and analyze a recorded episode of natural spoken interaction from an extract from Piers Morgan's television show "Life Stories". This analysis is supplemented by ethnographic observations of the context and the participants involved in the interaction. The study is divided into three main sections. The first section provides an overview of conversation analysis and discusses the talk show concept by considering relevant literature. It provides a brief overview of the Piers Morgan Life Stories show and information about the extract used in the analysis. The methods used in the analysis are also discussed. The next section of the study includes comprehensive observations and presents a qualitative analysis of the talk show data collected from the transcript of the excerpt. He discusses the systems of turn-taking and adjacency pairs that are presented in the transcription of this particular except. Its roots go back to the ethnomethodical traditions developed by Harold Garfinkel as well as the work of Erving Goffman on the order of interactions.
