    Pharmacists are very important to us, without them we would not know what type and quantity of medicines we need. They do various things to help us, such as filling our prescriptions and giving us important information about the medication before we take it. Becoming a pharmacist is not easy but it is a rewarding profession. There are many courses and different types of training necessary and useful to become a pharmacist from high school. Some useful high school courses include a strong background in math and science with courses such as biology, anatomy and physics, calculus, chemistry, statistics, and probability (Board of Regents of the University System of Wisconsin, Pharmacists, WISCareers). Additionally, almost all colleges require students to take courses like biology, anatomy, physics, and chemistry in high school when applying to the doctor of pharmacy program. The Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program is a program taken at college that trains students to become a general pharmacist. When a student completes the program, they earn their PharmD degree, the degree required to become a pharmacist. After graduating from high school and going to college, a student needs at least two to three years of undergraduate education, which includes two years of college math and science courses to enter in the Pharm.D program (Pharmacist, Wikipedia.com). Additionally, some colleges may require a bachelor's degree and almost all colleges require applicants to take the Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT). After earning a Pharm.D degree, you must take and pass two final tests/exams before finally obtaining permission to work as a pharmacist.
