    Germany used similar tactics, but with a greater focus on nationalism and support for the Nazi Party. They spread hatred against Jews by portraying Germans as perfectly healthy and looking like a model, and Jews as ugly with big noses and hunched backs. However, Germany is not the only country to resort to such dehumanizing tactics. The United States portrayed the Japanese as idiots and monsters. Americans often depicted their enemies as animals. Posters were usually placed in specific areas where they would stand out and be seen. Common spaces were schools, restaurants, post offices and stores. Propaganda was displayed in schools to persuade young girls and boys to join the effort to escape their parents. Small posters were made to hang in the windows of houses and private buildings. The Office of War Information (OWI) was the agency responsible for controlling the production and distribution of propaganda.
