    How Many People Practice or Celebrate Traditions? I would say that each person has their own traditions, but also shares several traditions with others. A tradition is defined as an inherited, established, or customary pattern of thought, action, or behavior (Merriam-Webster; 1828). Usually, when we think of a tradition, our ideas revolve around holidays. My first ideas were Christmas, Easter or even Thanksgiving. I recognized a trait that each of them had in common: saying grace. Saying Grace is a highly respected tradition in my family. On each of the holidays mentioned above, as well as others in between, we say grace during our meal before we eat. Growing up in a Christian home, I was taught to appreciate the importance of saying grace. As a Christian, we let ourselves be guided by the teachings of the Bible. By reading God's Word, we are compelled to act as we do. For example, one of the most well-known aspects of the Bible are the Ten Commandments. People of the Christian faith follow these commandments in order to live righteous lives. However, if you are familiar with these Ten Commandments, you know that saying grace or blessing a meal is not written there. So where do Christians get the idea that they should say grace? As you study the Bible, you will read about various occasions where we show our gratitude to God who has blessed individuals. An example of this is written in Matthew 15:36: “And he took the seven loaves and the fish, and gave thanks, and broke them, and gave them to his disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitude. Jesus did not want to send the multitudes away without food because they had followed him for three days without eating anything. His disciples wondered where they would find enough food to sustain themselves. Jesus took what they had, gave thanks, and fed four thousand men with the leftovers. Of course, this may not have been just because He gave thanks, but would that have been possible if He hadn't? Christians believe that God is the provider of everything. When something is given to someone, one naturally shows appreciation to the person who gave it to them. Saying grace is a gesture of appreciation towards
