  • Essay / Do curfews keep teenagers out of trouble? - 1188

IntroductionA curfew can be described as an order setting a specific time in the evening after which certain rules apply, including that no civilians or other specified group of unauthorized persons may be present at the curfew. outdoors or that places of public assembly must be closed (Dictionary.com). This definition refers to curfews that are enacted in certain states of the United States and in certain countries. A curfew can also be described as a regulation requiring a person to be home at a certain prescribed time, imposed by a parent on a child (Dictionary.com). Local curfew laws are enforced in an effort to reduce the rate of juvenile crime. On the other hand, parents impose curfews to keep their teenagers safe, protected, and prevent them from getting involved in illicit activities. As the old saying goes, “parenting doesn’t come with a guide.” Most parents fear and will agree that adolescence is the age when children are the most difficult to manage. This is the age at which the child experiences a transition stage. The child experiences physical changes and human psychological development that sparks a desire to try to connect with the world. This is the age when the child begins to become more independent and begins to think he knows everything, and this is when problems arise. In this report, I will analyze the positive and negative impact of curfews on adolescents. I will make a comparison and draw a conclusion to answer the question of whether curfews help keep teenagers out of trouble.BackgroundThe word curfew comes from the French word curfew which means blazing fire.
