According to Galdon, Solvensky, Smaltz (2014), a PMO is a centralized organization dedicated to improving project practice and outcomes through holistic management of all projects (p. 315). Among the different functions of a PMO; issue regular communications to project stakeholders and the rest of the organization regarding the progress or status of projects and provide authoritative management and oversight of all projects, alongside similar functions of a VMO (Galndon et al., p. 328). Both the PMO and VMO play an important role in decision-making and creating great results for their organization. They serve as a liaison between stakeholders and the rest of the organization to ensure that project outcomes meet user and stakeholder needs. PMO and VMO also supervise and monitor the daily activities of suppliers and project team members.
