Essay / Interview with my mother - 699
I interviewed a fifty-five year old woman named Theresa Geis. She is married to Robert Geis and they have four daughters, including me. They reside in Denver, Colorado with one daughter still at home. Theresa earned a master's degree in teaching with an emphasis in special education. She grew up in Greeley, Colorado, but loves Denver and where she is now. Theresa and Robert have lived in the same house in Denver for twenty-one years now and recently purchased a cabin in Estes Park, on the border of Rocky Mountain National Park. A typical day for my mother is that she wakes up at five forty-five. and take an hour's walk outside. After her walk, she wakes up her youngest daughter Rebecca. She will prepare him breakfast then have it with Becca. After breakfast, she will get ready for the day and do some household chores before the preschoolers arrive at eight o'clock. From eight in the morning, she will start teaching at the nursery school until noon in her basement transformed into a classroom. From eleven to noon, Theresa goes to the local cafe called Prairie Peddler and gets a white chocolate Americano iced with a little skim milk. After her latte, she will have lunch and then teach from noon to three o'clock. At three o'clock Becca has a game or practice that Theresa will go to or drop her off depending on if it's a game or practice. After her match or practice, Theresa will prepare dinner for her husband Robert and Becca. They will eat together, clean up, and talk about their days before turning in for the night. Theresa's most memorable event was the birth of her youngest daughter, Becca. This was because she was ready to return to the working world since her other three daughters were old enough to take care of themselves and each other. Her change in routine due to Becca's birth required her to become a full-time mother again and she prepared to be a working asset to the family. When asked if Theresa was enjoying or happy with her current routine, she was told that she definitely was. She really enjoyed teaching and having a flexible schedule that allowed her to spend quality time with her husband and daughter..
