Essay / Author's Message - 1274
In life, each individual has the capacity to develop unique interpretations, perspectives, and decisions on a variety of topics. When someone reads a poem or hears a song, they interpret it in a certain way, sometimes different from the author's intention. Many factors contribute to bringing a poem and song to life, but we cannot say that all the factors described by the author have an effect on every reader. People connect to poems and songs differently, usually because of specific personal experiences and memories. Authors and singers bring poems and songs to life through different methods with the aim of conveying a particular message. Some of these methods used are: metaphor, tone and sound. Since a metaphor literally refers to a type of object or idea to suggest a similarity or analogy to another sometimes abstract idea, authors tend to use it frequently in their creations to express their thoughts. and the feeling. Think of a metaphor as another way of thinking: it offers the reader a new and distinct way of examining a perspective and worldview. Metaphors clarify ideas by using other relatable examples. For example, Sylvia Plath compares her pregnancy to an elephant or a heavy house in her poem Metaphors saying “I am a riddle in nine syllables, an elephant, a heavy house” (Plath line 1). She continues to describe the nine-month journey from pregnancy to a train ride: "I got on the train, there's no getting off" (Plath 9). The metaphors she uses bring her poem to life, they allow the reader to understand the long process of being pregnant with something we may have experienced like a long train ride, seen like an elephant, or felt like the weight of it... ... middle of paper ......since life, we can say that the message conveyed by the art of poetry and music will never again be felt exactly the same way by each individual. Therefore, the poetry and music may not be evaluated exactly as the author expects, but nevertheless the unique techniques employed by each author will have a considerable impact and resonate with their readers and/or listeners. It’s what brings a poem or song to life. that's all. And only then will the recipient of the message capture and appreciate the magnificent effect behind the great words.
