  • Essay / Animal Rights: Animal Testing - 827

Animal testing is the use of non-human animals in experiments. Animal testing, also known as animal testing, was established as early as the second century AD. A Roman doctor named Galen began performing countless experiments on animals. (Safer drugs.) On the other hand, the first major animal experiments took place in the 19th century. Luis Pasteur administered charcoal to sheep. Anthrax is a bacterial disease that affects the skin and lungs of sheep and cattle, so Pasteur is responsible for this bacterial disease in these animals. Another man, Ivan Pavlov, conducted experiments on dogs and tested how their memory worked during repetitive tasks. (Murnaghan)In 1922 there was a breakthrough in animal testing. Animal testing was now permitted to perform kidney dialysis and “life-saving” treatments on animals. Primate laboratories have now been built to test on animals in a whole new way. Animals were often given powerful drugs, such as cancer, to see how they reacted to them and to see what was similar and different in their reaction compared to humans. (Murnaghan)In 1996, many doctors attempted to clone sheep. However, one would think that animal testing would have ceased with their many unresolved treatments. Unfortunately, animal testing continued and reached its peak in the 1980s. They only started testing cosmetic products on animals when a woman had an incident while using their mascara, mascara s was "gone wrong", which ultimately left her blind. (Murnaghan) The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has passed legislation called “The Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act.” This has allowed doctors to now test cosmetics on animals. Unfortunately, animal testing, also known as animal experimentation, is still middle of paper......much?Every day you can make a difference to the animals that are currently suffering in laboratories , millions of animals are poisoned and killed for products like lipsticks, deodorants, soap and toothpaste, etc. One of the many ways you can help is to shop cruelty-free and look for rabbit logos on the products you buy. Another way is to join campaigns against animal testing and donate money. Also adopt animals and give them a loving home.
