Liz Marks of Maryland was lucky to walk out of an accident in 2012. In the words of Liz (2014 ), “I ignored those warnings about texting and driving because everyone else was doing it, I thought it was okay, I thought I was invincible. But clearly, I was completely wrong. Liz Marks was in a terrible accident in 2012, caused by reading a text from her mother while driving. Although she lived, she is now blind in one eye, she has lost her sense of smell, she cannot produce tears, and she cannot fall asleep naturally. Texting while driving is a leading cause of accidents in America. Many people don't care about putting their lives and the lives of others in danger. The statistics are clear, but many still don't listen. The dangers of texting and driving outweigh the benefits. The answer can always wait. Although many attempts have been made to stop texting while driving, people across the country still do it every day. The only way to stop it is for phones to automatically turn off while driving because people can easily bypass everything else. No message is worth dying for. If there is a need to respond, people can always stop to save a life. Texting while driving has become a trend among young people when they haven't even been experienced drivers for very long.
