Essay / Panic Attacks in Teenagers - 963
Children's transition into adolescence often causes great stress for adolescents. Teenagers often feel pressured to do things they wouldn't normally do and feel overwhelmed by new school activities. Some adolescents may experience extreme cases of depression, family tension, and less family support. On the other hand, some adolescents who experience the above circumstances are not able to control the various changes or difficult circumstances they are going through and often express their emotions through a panic attack. A panic attack is a “sudden episode of intense fear that triggers severe physical reactions when there is no real danger or apparent cause” (Mayo Clinic, 1998). Many people only have one or two panic attacks in their life and their terror disappears. But in some cases, people have constant episodes of panic attacks, which then becomes a condition called panic disorder. Adolescents are more likely than adults to suffer from severe panic disorder. Doctors considered panic attacks to be stress or stress, but when researchers studied panic attacks, they recognized them as a medical problem. Panic attacks affect a person's lifestyle and can often make them fear having a panic episode at any time. Patients who seek medical attention may be given medications that can control their panic episodes. Panic attacks are often seen between the ages of 20 and 33, but according to the journal "Panic and Panic disorders in Adolescents," there is growing evidence that panic disorders can begin as early as age five, and a significant number of cases occur in adolescents.” Panic attacks can occur at any age and, according to the paper, even a young child can suffer from a panic disorder. Although any person... middle of paper... is a normal once in a lifetime event where you might express your fear of something. But when the panic attack extends over more than one or two events, it can become a panic disorder that can affect all social interactions and the teen's health. Adolescents should seek immediate treatment when experiencing multiple episodes of panic disorders. Works Cited Mayo Clinic, S. (1998). Panic attacks and panic disorder.
