At this time, most celebrities doing press for their films dressed themselves or were dressed by the costume designers at their respected studios. Studios began to stop paying for these clothes and one of the first designers to take over was “Giorgio Armani, one of the first European designers with an independent boutique in Beverly Hills” (Grigoriadis, 2014). He dressed Richard Gere for an event and it was really the first time anyone had seen a designer do something like that. This was very well received in the sector. We know this because “the following year, Armani dressed a dozen stars” (Grigoriadis, 2014). Once the '90s arrived, "other designers who understood the value of the red carpet early on – Gucci, Valentino, Calvin Klein, Gaultier, Alberta Ferretti and Carolina Herrera – began to get into the game, the stars were overwhelmed with choices. Which means “it made sense for them to hire stylists to make a selection and bring the dresses home so they could choose in peace” (Grigoriadis, 2014) without having to worry about people noticing them. shopping and ask them for a lot of things they had. it just becomes easier to hire a stylist. This created the Hollywood stylist and is what has kept fashion at the forefront of the entertainment industry by bringing the red carpet to center stage.
