  • Essay / Water Conservation - 873

One of the elements without which humans, animals and our environment cannot live is water. Water is extremely vital in the daily lives of everyone around the world, from drinking, washing clothes, animals, grains, cleaning and so many other uses besides waste disposal. Water would eliminate our species because we all depend on the need for water. “Water footprint refers to the volumes of water consumption and pollution that are ‘behind’ your daily consumption.” (Network, 2010) If the average American uses approximately 80 to 100 gallons of water per day, then they need to change their habits and contribute to a better water footprint. Water is essential to ecological systems and human health. Animals or plants cannot survive for long without water. Not only is water the most widely used resource by our industry, it both indirectly and directly produces energy, provides a basis for outdoor recreation, and is important for transportation as well as many other uses it needs on a global scale. It's amazing when I think about it. how I use water in my day. Flush the toilet, take a shower, brush my teeth, drink a glass of water, use water to make oatmeal, wash my dishes and clothes, swim in the lake or pool , make different recipes that require water and water my plants and garden. It amazed me to read the website www.waterfootprint.org because I have never conceptually compared the food we eat to the items we make realizing how much water is used in the world. Some products I haven't thought of would be beef, chicken meat, eggs, hamburgers, milk, pork, beer, tea, wine, barley, corn, millet, rice, soy, coconut, apples, orange, potatoes, cheese, bread. , cotton, paper,...... middle of paper ......o save water, because I like to eat meat and I don't regularly favor vegetables, so it is extremely important that I do what I can to conserve as much water as possible every day.Works CitedCouncil, WW (2009, May 27).
