  • Essay / Digital Technology: Logo Evolution - 747

Technology is the key to survival, and it has changed very rapidly since its first glimpse hundreds of thousands of years ago. Technology, in this case, refers to anything electronic. From automobiles and airplanes to computers and microwaves. Now, when a company, organization, person or group of people needs to advertise something, they use what is called a logo. A logo is generally a graphic image used on brochures, websites and handouts, anything the group receives publicity from, and which represents the group and its services accurately, while maintaining a pleasing touch to the viewer's eye . Just like the technology around us, logos change. They evolve by adapting to the social and visual aspects of society. It’s not necessarily what logos look like, but what is considered “beautiful” by society changes. Shapes, colors, angles, and contour lines change based on the designer's preferences, but the designer wants the logo to be considered "beautiful," so it must adhere to the company's preferences, not just theirs. . These general societal preferences continually change over time. What is considered “good” art changes over time. This is known only as: Logo Evolution. It has now been widely assumed by the general public that logos have been an essential part of a company's lifecycle for many years. But how extensive is this past? Imagine an ancient vase with many marks etched into its clay mold, resembling lines, shapes and even an animal. Now imagine these marks, on another vase, a hundred kilometers away. These same markings, these same shapes, but perhaps assembled differently, and on a different vase. It is possible that this arrangement is just a coincidence. This, by chan...... middle of paper ......is just the way we create logos now. The main evolution of logos is not in what they are, what they look like, or even how they are used, but rather in how they are created. These days, logos require less physical work (hammer on nail engraving) and more digital painting on the computer (brush tool in Photoshop). Logos and our perception are rapidly evolving with the technology that creates them. It is almost inevitable that they evolve, and the way in which they evolve is borderline uncontrollable.
