Essay / Emerging adulthood and sexuality in Latin America...
The main idea of this article is to discuss the sexual and reproductive health of Latin American immigrants in Madrid, briefly addressing three different issues: do they believe that there are differences in sexual and reproductive health issues between what they experienced in their country and in Spain?; Do they have different behaviors in Spain from those in their country of origin and, if so, what? and finally, what do they perceive of sexual health services and access to them in Spain? The sexuality of regular Latin American immigrants in Europe has rarely been addressed by researchers. Although we know the importance of studies on the sexuality of irregular migrants, due to the risks and vulnerability to which migrants are exposed, we should question what happens to regular migrants who fall into the emerging category of adults, to those who emigrate to pursue university studies or postgraduate courses, those who lived in their parents' home until migration and who, in most cases, are not married and do not have a 'children. First, I would like to make some methodological and theoretical considerations about the research from which this data comes: From a qualitative point of view, the sample focuses on regular immigrants, women and men who enter in the emerging category of adulthood. Thirty-two in-depth interviews were conducted in Madrid, addressing sexual beliefs and behaviors throughout life, particularly during the migration process. My research includes interviews with Argentinian, Bolivian, Ecuadorian, and Mexican emerging adults. The exclusion criteria did not contain gender identity, but the final sample only includes one man who identifies as gay and one woman who identifies as lesbian... middle of paper...... I focus poorly on those emerging into adulthood with the goal of marriage and children in their late twenties. There is a need to make a change and apply this theory to other cultural groups, such as regular migrants who may have other life goals, at least in the near future. It is also relevant to focus on sexuality and migratory contexts where education, promotion, access to public health and social issues are present. Finally, the sexual studies that have been carried out mainly focused on vaginal sex because there are no other types of sexual practices; Heteronormative sexual practices are the only ones that exist. The future question to be addressed in this research would be: if the literature speaks of a global youth culture, is there also a global youth sexual culture 5? There is also the possibility for participants to create a hybrid identity13, within the framework of a globalized culture. Company.
