  • Essay / The effects of the Internet on today's youth

Can you imagine what it was like 20 years ago? How do we communicate and exchange information with each other? Some things may not be accessible to us today, but these days, almost everything is made possible thanks to the advanced communication technologies around us. Whether printed, audio or visual materials, everything is now within our reach, not least because global trade is accessible almost anywhere in the world. And with the invention of the Internet, all kinds of information are available to young people at the click of a button. Along with all of this, imagine the vast amount of information that is transmitted to each of us almost every second. However, as we always say, these developments may or may not benefit us. Yes, it is true that we can say that the world we live in today is a “well-informed” world compared to that of 20 years ago. . This is thanks to all the forms of media made available to us over the years. Moreover, it is mainly because: more and more companies are investing in the distribution of such different forms of media. They are well aware that a large percentage of the consuming population is willing to pay simply to purchase the latest information and entertainment available. Even the controversial and much talked about issue of piracy is undeniably a great source of information today, especially for the youth of some third world countries like the Philippines. However, with all the exposure we get in all kinds of media, I'm just wondering who the people are who are filtering all the information. Who are the people who make sure that there is a balance between the disadvantages and the advantages of all this? I'm afraid whoever is behind this should take it upon themselves to be responsible...... middle of paper ......o count that there are many young people who may or may not be properly guided by their parents who work for the most part because of the need to offer a better future to their children. And entrepreneurs should not take the excuse of exploiting the young minds of our generation just to make money. Every piece of information we see has its pros and cons, a positive and negative effect or, like what others may say, has a bad and good side. We must always choose to see the bright side and learn to resist the temptation offered by all kinds of media. Just like what Peter Parker said in Spiderman, “with great power comes great responsibility”, so having access to all this information and entertainment, we must always keep in mind that it must be used correctly. We should be wise enough to use this for our own benefit and not for our own destruction..
