“Fans have created such high expectations of athletes that success seems to require the use of steroids for any sport requiring speed, power, or a combination of both. » (Schmidt) Doping in sport is when athletes use performance-enhancing drugs in the sport in which they play. If athletes feel they need to improve their performance, they should be able to use PEDs. Doping in sport should not be considered a transgression; it should be used to help improve sports to make them better for the athlete. In the past, doping in sport was not frowned upon. Many athletes already use performance-enhancing medications. “Everyone is getting better, that’s a reality we should embrace.” (Allenby B.4) Athletes would be on the same playing field if everyone used some sort of PED. The majority of athletes use some sort of PED to help them improve.
