  • Essay / Reckless Driving - 1048

As Americans, we love our cars, trucks, SUVs, and motorcycles for many different reasons. One of the main reasons is that they provide easy and convenient mobility; a means of personal transportation. It's pretty hard to imagine what this county would look like without all the roads and vehicles that drive through it. This is very evident in Arizona, where the majority of us drive to most of our activities, whether it's going to work or taking the kids out for ice cream. We jump in our vehicle and leave. However, a curious thing often happens when we get into our car, truck, or SUV. We sometimes transform into someone different behind the wheel of our vehicle. We can become inconsiderate and aggressive towards other drivers; sometimes even becoming rude, rude and dangerous when behind the wheel of a motor vehicle. We start acting crazy because we are behind the wheel of a big, powerful machine. This is because when this happens, drivers become a danger to themselves and others. Hopefully this will plant a seed of common sense that will cause us to think before we turn into dangerous monsters behind the wheel. Numerous studies have highlighted the dangers of aggressive driving habits. However, before looking at possible outcomes, we should better understand the habits that fall into this category. A 2009 study by the AAA Foundation ranked 12 major areas of aggressive driving. All categories of aggressive driving habits accounted for 191,611 fatal crashes or 212,427 deaths during this period. By far the deadliest category was excessive speed, which accounted for thirty percent of accidents. Speeding violations included both speeds above posted limits and deaths faster than the middle of paper. In conclusion, as Americans, we love our cars, trucks, and SUVs, and living in Arizona, these personal modes of transportation are a big part of our lives. The problem with vehicles is that they can be a dangerous cause of countless deaths. Many deaths could be avoided if drivers avoided reckless and aggressive driving habits. To avoid these dangerous habits, we should try to be more courteous and patient with other drivers on the road. This would help reduce the number of road rages and accidents linked to aggressive driving, thereby saving lives. This is often a difficult thing to control in the heat of battle, but ask yourself if it's really worth killing or dying for so little. Try to remember why you are driving; to go to work or take your children for ice cream, and get there safely.
