Essay / Moses, the Lord and I - 862
The relationship that Moses has with the Lord would be one that most Christians would like to have. Moses' relationship with the Lord is not only one of worship but also one of friendship. They discussed among themselves a give and take relationship, with Moses even being able to ask the Lord about some of the things he felt were not right and the Lord answered him. They talk to each other like we talk to our best friends. This was not a common occurrence, even in the days of Moses. It was a special relationship and respected by the others who left Egypt with Moses. The Exodus is a narrative literary genre. It tells the story of Moses leading the chosen people out of Egypt and the paths they faced not only in trying to leave, but also the tribulations they encountered once they left their path to the chosen country. The narratives tell many stories about the strengths of God and how He works through the person He chooses. It also tells stories about faith and how those who have faith in God can and do overcome the many difficulties and perils they face if they believe in Him and His word. The particular text I cover here Exodus thirty-three verses twelve through twenty-three explains how personal the relationship between Moses and the Lord is. These verses remain in context with the verses before and after because they all explain how close a relationship Moses and the Lord had. The verses also explain how God chose Moses to speak to him personally not only in the tent but also at Mount Saini when he was to rewrite the Ten Commandments. One word that continually comes up in the verses I’m going to cover here is Favor. . Merriam Webster defines the word favor as “friendly consideration shown toward one another, especially by a superior.” This seems to be ho...... middle of paper ...... I know in a voice that can be heard and also not showing its physical form to anyone I know. This text made me think more about what my personal relationship with God is. It made me realize that saying I'm a Christian and that I know God is different from having a real, personal relationship with God. Since growing up, I haven't taken much time to try to develop a relationship with God and I should spend more time on it, just like I do on other aspects of my life that I find important. This will make me more serious about my relationship with God and not let my issues with the Church stop me from doing it for myself. In conclusion, these verses explain the relationship that Moses and the Lord had during Moses' time serving the Lord. They also show how each of us should strive to build a personal relationship with the Lord in our own lives..
