Essay / Toyota's Ethical Problems - 1423
Toyota's problems in the automobile industry arise from a lack of moral and ethical obligations to loyal customers. In fact, people encounter ethics at one time or another. An expectation of companies is to act in a way that respects the values of society. According to authors Trevino and Nelson (2004), “a set of moral principles or values, or the principles, norms and standards of conduct governing a group or individual”. On the other hand, three ethical criteria determined in this discussion, namely obligation, moral ideas and consequences, make this article highlight an ethical dilemma for automobile manufacturers. According to Steve Gorman of Thomson Reuters, the world's largest international multimedia news agency, 40 consumers and companies have filed complaints against Toyota. The claims involved financial losses, including diminished vehicle principles resulting from complaints about Toyota cars racing out of control (Gorman, S. 2010). An international company memo states that a reliable option (brake override) was implemented in 2007, three years before the safety feature became standard. Toyota did not respond to complaints about impulsive unintended acceleration beginning in 2002. During this time, a new electronic throttle control system replaced standard equipment on Toyota vehicles (Gorman, 2010). According to Steve Gorman, Toyota insists that the faulty vehicles got out of control because of seized floor mats and accelerator pedals. Both issues were resolved by safety recalls. Gorman states that many cases of unintended acceleration stem from driver inaccuracy (Gorman, 2010). Toyota Motor Corporation's ethical problems stem from its failure to report stuck accelerator pedals in Toyota Camry and Prius vehicles. Because I didn't report the problem... middle of article ......ge James Selna for pre-trial proceedings (Gorman, S. 2010). Because Toyota Corporation may have been unethical in its business practices, it suffers the loss and now has a bad reputation. Works Cited Abide, M. (2010).
