  • Essay / Oh My God: History of Mythology and Its Influences Today

Oh My GodMythology is defined as the collection or study of myths. As David Abraham said, since the dawn of time, humanity has always wanted to know how we got here or what the meaning of life is. Early humans began creating different stories or myths about how everything began and how to explain things in nature like thunder or fire. Many cultures and religions were created because of these issues passed down from generation to generation. Many wars have been started because of different religions and beliefs. Abraham states that myths were the beginning of literature, art and religion and still have a profound impact on our daily lives. When most people think of mythology, they perhaps think of Greek and Roman mythology more than any other mythological belief. It was a time when Zeus and Jupiter ruled and were considered the kings of the gods. These beliefs were identical with some minor differences such as changing the names of the gods. Many films, books, and popular traditions are influenced in many ways by mythology. One of the films of the Disney company was the story of Hercules, the ancient mythological warrior, son of Jupiter. The film grossed $252,712,101 in 1997. Today, some of our buildings are even influenced by the design of temples once built to worship mythical gods and goddesses. All religions worshiped today began as a myth or story about how we got here. This has caused many wars and no one knows which one is right or if any of them are right, but we always worship and pray to the god(s) we believe in and that helps answer all the questions that we ask ourselves..
