  • Essay / Which leads a society to a totalitarian regime

Communism: “A concept or system of society in which the principal resources and means of production belong to the community rather than to individuals” (“Communism”). In 1848, the Communist Manifesto was written. The creators of the manifesto were Karl Marx, the main idealist, and Friedrich Engles, who helped Marx in his work. Marx and Engles had “hoped that the eloquence of the Manifesto would inspire a revolution throughout Europe by which workers would seize power, wrest factories from their owners, and create a society free of class distinctions in which all property ¬¬¬ ¬¬¬ “The land, buildings, machinery, and stores would belong to the state” (Miller 14). Marx found the name of his absolute society in the villages of the French communes, commonly defined as feudal villages. Feudal villages are villages that hold land and crops based on the resulting relationships between lord and villager (Forman 3). Mainly saying that the lord of the village would allow the vassals to use their land in exchange for something like housing or food. The lord and the vassals are in contact with the men in charge of the country and the peasants of the country. The men or the man in charge of the country will allow the peasants to live on the land and ensure their protection but in exchange the peasant will then have to do what the lord asks of him ("The Middle Ages: feudal life"). Marx was not satisfied with feudal villages alone; he wanted to see this type of life in a larger society, a more contemporary communist Europe. According to Marx, “other systems would give way or, if they fought back, would be destroyed” (Forman 3). There are external forces such as absence of the class system, relief of stress resulting from economic difficulties...... middle of paper ... the economy is tilting.
