Essay / Literary Elements of the Poem Remembrance by Emily Bronte
Emily Bronte's Remembrance is about a person who remembers a lost love who has passed away. It is an elegic poem which is “a poem that laments the death of a person, or simply a sad and pensive poem”. The remembrance is also a lyric poem in which “expresses the thoughts and feelings of the poet”. The poem reflects the historical context of the 18th century and expresses the romanticism of the Victorian era. Bronte influenced her 18th-century and 21st-century audiences to connect with the tone and mood of the poem through the literary devices she used, such as imagery and repetition. Through her use of these literary elements, Bronte has created a sense of grief and remembrance for those who have experienced a loss similar to that present in the poem. For me personally, these elements, along with the romance she included, make me appreciate my life to the extent that I have yet to experience this heartbreak, and encourage me to realize how much hope I have. lucky to have people in my life who have a similar feeling. love for me as the speaker has for his lover. Emily Brontë was born in 1818 and belonged to the Romantic convention. Although Remembrance is not Brontë's most famous poem, she actually became more famous with her one and only novel, Wuthering Heights, and is now considered a classic of English literature. Emily and her sister Anne were both very imaginative and sometimes their creations were very exaggerated. Bronte was the third youngest of four surviving siblings. They lived under the strict governance of their religious father in which they became isolated and alone, which is seen in their work. The three sisters are famous for their romantic writing style. Through the theme of this poem, the memory becomes present in my mind as I read and, through repetition, compels me to recall the people I love and who love me. The historical and cultural context reflected in the Remembrance bears some resemblance to the sense of loss felt over the centuries and which remains the same today. The idea of loss in the poem and the context used stimulated my understanding of the concept of love and also helped me appreciate the love I experience every day.
