Essay / Music in my life - 982
Music is part of everyone's life. From childhood songs to grunge garage music, and everything in between, music is everywhere. Growing up with an extremely musical background, it was in my genes that I would become a musician. Playing music has helped me become the person I am by being an outlet for my anger, expanding my future, and making new friends. I first joined the band in fourth grade playing drums. I played for about two weeks, then I stopped because I didn't like it, mainly because of the teacher. In sixth grade we had a new music teacher and told me I looked like a trumpet player, so I tried it. I was taking music lessons but after the first one my music teacher told me she had to leave because she had breast cancer but told me to never give up on music. She told me it was in my blood. Our new music teacher had no knowledge of instruments, so I had to learn on my own. I worked and worked and no part was easy. Many times I wanted to quit, forget about it and do nothing, just be a student. Then I arrived at middle school with a real marching band and concert band. The first day, all the people, the instruments, the sounds of the music and the camaraderie that followed was simply breathtaking. I continued playing trumpet, and in ninth grade I started playing bass guitar. I joined a punk rock band and played bass for about a year, then we broke up. I still play bass and trumpet through high school and plan to continue playing not only in college but for the rest of my life. Music has been a great help in my life. When I had problems in life, I could always listen to my music or play music and write songs about things that were happening in my life. I still remember the time when I...... middle of paper ......h my shy exterior and allowed me to make many friends. Most of my high school memories are with my bandmates; from practice blunders to group trips, I wouldn't trade them for anything. When you spend as much time with people as you do with your group members, they grow on you. You always have something in common, music. When I got to college I was nervous meeting new people, new classes, a new house, it was scary but I met over 30 kids in one group and that made things a lot easier to adapt. Overall, music is an essential part of life. . Without music, I would be a totally different person. Music has gotten me through tough times, helped me meet new people, and taught me something I can never lose, the power of music. When someone says music is their life I can understand because without music I don't know what I would do..
