  • Essay / My education taught me to never give up in order to succeed

My education itself was a barrier to improving to become present in my learning. My classmates were all learning at a faster pace than me, which made me believe that I was not capable of achieving my academic goals and began to doubt myself. I always had a passion for school, and even though I didn't excel to the best of my ability, or try as hard as I thought I was capable of, I never gave up. Over the years, I saw little improvement in my learning, but when improvement became noticeable, I would get distracted and return to where I started. When I began attending Putnam Vocational Technical Academy, I saw a large increase in my academic prowess, but it did not satisfy my desire to improve. During my first year at Putnam, I managed to gain the ability to balance my grades, but there were other obstacles that became present. As I was exploring the stores in Putnam, the Allied Health program caught my eye and I decided to begin a career in nursing. After exploring and being accepted into the nursing program, the idea of getting a head start in the medical field at a young age amused me so much that I lost track of my progress and I started to relax. Another obstacle appeared halfway through the school year, when I noticed that bullying was starting to become a huge problem in my community. As more and more stories of teenage suicides due to bullying hit the headlines, I decided to take a stand against bullying. I became so intrigued by the idea of standing up for others and saving lives that I started an anti-bullying group in the social sector. -network known as Facebook. I named the group "National Anti-Bullying Month: At the beginning of October, wear purple if you are a... middle of paper ... my senior year." With these situations becoming new obstacles in my education and my personal opinion on the plans that are presented, I will hold my head high and find a way to overcome these obstacles and expand my goals over a longer period of time. My previous goal was to become valedictorian of the school, but my new goal is to be accepted into a good medical school. After setting my new goal, I came to think that perhaps Henry Fords was wrong. Henry Fords once said, “Obstacles are those scary things you see when you take your eyes off your goals,” and that’s why I continue to set more goals. I believe that obstacles mean that I am close to achieving my goal, so I set more goals for myself because when I go to college, I can look back on my high school years and be proud of how far I have come in during these four short years. years.
