  • Essay / The Cost of a Legal Education - 1496

IntroductionA graduate law education is not only competitive, but it is also very expensive. As a pre-law undergraduate student, I plan to attend law school within the next two years. However, I am exploring what is the possibility of attending law school without the financial support of heavy student loans. According to the academic journals I have read, the cost of going to graduate school in law is constantly increasing. The majority of students currently attending law school have large student loans to repay once they graduate. The problem that is gradually getting worse is the fact that it is difficult to find jobs in the legal field. As a result, law students barely make ends meet after graduation. The vast majority of law school graduates have little or no money to spend once they've paid their student loan bills. If the cost of obtaining a legal education continues to rise, the number of students applying to law schools will gradually decline. Purpose of the Study The purpose of this research is to gather information that will indicate whether the value of a judicial degree is decreasing. This research will also examine why law schools are so competitive and what can they do to make law school more affordable for prospective law students. Literature ReviewIn the academic journal "The Crisis in Legal Education: Dabbling in Disaster Planning", the theme is to examine the cost of a legal education in the United States and then develop structural changes that could reduce the cost of obtaining legal training. This academic journal was published in 2012. This academic journal does not constitute the most recent research conducted on the topic of the cost of legal education. However, upon research, they differ...... middle of paper ......p from student loans. Law schools cannot continue to raise tuition while expecting to maintain high enrollment rates. Once I conduct my research in full, it will show that if the cost of going to law school does not decrease, there will be fewer students attending law school. With the help of academic journals, I am investigating a possible alternative that law schools could implement to reduce their tuition costs. This research will also shed light on the significant financial challenges faced by many law graduates. Works CitedMcEntee, KP, Lynch, PJ and Tokaz, DM (2012).
