Human beings are said to live in a drug-oriented and chemical-dependent society. In other words, drugs along with many other addictive substances have contributed to the devastation of many affected families and individuals in society. In this article, I will discuss the term addiction as well as all other terms that correlate to it. For example, I will talk about the different substances that victims use, as well as two types of drug addiction that users experience. Additionally, I will discuss how addiction affects human health as well as the behavior that accompanies an addicted personality, as well as theories that might explain an addictive personality. Finally, let's talk about withdrawal, tolerance and recovery. How can we define a word like addiction? according to the text we used in class; In “Health Psychology” written by Sarafino, addiction is a state formed by the frequent consumption of a natural or artificial psychoactive substance, on which the person has become physically and psychologically dependent. To expand on each term, when a person is physically dependent, the body is accustomed to the substance and combined with the standard performance of the body's muscles. The manual also states that this term also comes with two types of characteristics, namely tolerance and shrinkage. Tolerance is the dose of the drug that the human body can tolerate; Withdrawal refers to the physical and psychological symptoms experienced by the user when they stop using the drug they have become addicted to.
