    Every day people hear about this word deoxyribonucleic acid or better known as DNA. DNA is what makes each person unique, besides fingerprints. Although most of our DNA is the same, we have about one percent that is different from everyone else's. Our genetic makeup can help determine paternity, save a life, and for the purposes of this research, it can help incarcerate a suspect or identify a victim. Forensic medicine is booming. It was only a few years ago that DNA testing was used as evidence to prove a person's innocence or identity. Throughout history, people have been murdered, raped, and assaulted. Many of these crimes at the time went unnoticed because they had no way of identifying who the culprit of the crime was. Although it is sometimes still difficult to find a suspect, forensic science has been able, thanks to DNA analysis, to put people behind bars who should be there.
