Essay / The SaberTooth Program - 801
The SaberTooth Program is a program that applies the survival needs of communities to the changes they must adapt to (the principle of results-based education). I will discuss the universal principles of the Saber-Tooth program from the given excerpt. According to New Fist, in Chellean times, the requirements for survival included catching fish with bare hands, clubbing woolly horses, and scaring tigers with fire (Peddiwell and Benjamin, 1939). Circumstances such as the Ice Age greatly modified this survival program. During this time, the tribe members had to develop a new method of program suited to their essential survival. Peddiwell (1939) suggests that from Chellean times until today, this curriculum has always had its own developmental outcomes (learning outcomes and assessment standards) that must be achieved. before you can move on to a higher level. This program is still applicable in our education system today. The survival requirements that must be adapted according to the OBE are: knowledge, quality, social transformation and efficiency. NCS aims to prepare learners for everyday life, once they have completed their studies. The connection between all of these programs is that they all aim to equip the learner for survival. In this paragraph, I will explore the different teaching approaches advocated by Tyler, Stenhouse and Freire. I will also discuss how these three scholars relate to the OBE, NCS, CAPS, and Saber-tooth Curriculum. Ralph Tyler believes that one of the most essential aspects to consider when designing a program is that effective learning must take place.
