  • Essay / 11 September - 2398

September 11, 2001, every American can tell you what they were doing that day when they heard the catastrophic news of what happened that day. I remember being at school and not really knowing what was going on until I got home and sat on the couch and saw the pictures on the TV . The entire nation seemed to come to a screeching halt as there was panic in New York. . The questions that seemed to come to everyone's mind were who did this and how did we let something so horrible happen. Ultimately, someone else committed the act of terrorism, but we let it happen by letting our guard down. We could have avoided such a disaster simply by paying more attention to security at our airports, but then again, we didn't know how flawed the system was until someone decided to use it to its own benefit to harm the American people. Overall, my research showed me how broken the system was before 9/11, how they were able to commit an act of terrorism, and what changes in national and airport security occurred because of 9/11. The purpose of this essay is to find out what airport security was like during 9/11 and how security has changed since 9/11 and also to see if there has been an increase in targeting against certain ethnic groups. Since the September 11 attacks, the airline industry has suffered a sharp decline in commercial traffic and lost tons of money due to this tragedy. Meanwhile, they are all beginning to implement new security measures required by the Transportation Security Administration or TSA. The most complex aspect of security is cargo due to the large number of bags.
