    The article I chose to analyze is “Airport Screeners Could See X-Rated X-Rays” by Joe Sharkey (Elements of Argument, P. 15-17). Joe Sharkey is a NEW YORK TIMES columnist and author. His columns focus primarily on business travel, although his nonfiction books focus on criminal misconduct. He also co-wrote a novel, Lady Gold. At one time he was deputy national editor of the Wall Street Journal, city editor of the Albany Times-Union and a reporter for the Philadelphia Inquirer. Knowing the author is important because you know they are accredited and knowledgeable about the subject they are writing about. There are so many people who just write without knowing exactly what they are talking about, giving false accusations or their own opinions on things. So, knowing the author makes it a little easier for you when talking to other people about their article, since you will know who the author is and some of their background. You wouldn't want a doctor to write an article about teeth and oral health, nor would you want a dentist to write an article about broken arms and legs.
