    This could have really thrived if Cohn wasn't so creepy about Brett and being a puppy. Mike knew Brett, of course, but he never had to deal personally with any of his ex-lovers. The feeling of Cohn following them around and being struck by love was something Mike had never had to encounter and it was bizarre – on every level of the situation. “'I can't blame them. Can you blame them? Why do you follow Brett everywhere? Don't you have good manners? How do you think that makes me feel?' » (147). As previously stated, if Cohn hadn't followed Brett around like a puppy, I don't think Mike would have cared. This relationship was formed on toxic values, it never had the chance to develop.
