I. INTERNSHIP SITE BACKGROUND AND BUSINESS MODELOphidion, Inc. is an early-stage biopharmaceutical company located in Pasadena. The company is currently developing a new class of safe and effective drugs targeting some of the most important molecules in the central nervous system, neuronal nicotinic receptors. These drugs will potentially be used to treat several cognitive disorders, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, ADHD, schizophrenia, depression, and many other CNS diseases. At an early stage, the company wants to establish a management system as well as a strategy that could maintain its capacity, strength as well as core competencies in the market. In addition, Ophidion is considering different approaches to have a good image, not only with the targeted market but also with potential partnerships, future collaborators as well as internal stakeholders. Ophidion's objectives in creating this internship position were to learn how to develop the outline and fill in the appropriate information for its business plan and development plan. The company also wants to support and encourage learning and provide trainees with the opportunity to develop the essential skills, attitudes and behaviors needed to fill the work environment. Additionally, the company helps students determine whether there is a match between the intern's professional expectations and skills and the job requirements. This was a very important opportunity for me to be able to apply my academic knowledge and skills in the workplace.
