Essay / Overview of Frank Lloyd Wright Architecture
I chose to talk about Wright in particular because I think his architectural style and design was very unique and interesting to see. As a civil engineer, I am fascinated by how a building's structure changes over time. Additionally, I like to learn more about the different types of materials used to construct buildings. Wright was known for transforming the way architecture built houses. He was the first to introduce “Prairie Style” and “Usonian” to American society. Wright's way of designing and designing homes has had a personal impact on me as I want my future home to be built in the Prairie style as it gives a unique and modern look to the building. The two buildings that really caught my eye were “The Circle Gallery” and “Della Walker House”, both designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Say no to plagiarism. This beautiful building consists of an arched portal at the entrance. The exterior of the building is constructed of bricks, which gives a solid and sturdy appearance to the building. On the other hand, the interior of the building is made up of ramps and skylights. The ramp is created in an interesting way, the ramp gradually turns in a circle around the entire gallery. Skylights are also known as a “suspended glass bubble ceiling,” which gives the gallery a very unique look. This building reflects my own experience of the California Bay Area, because it is a small part of Wright's work, just as the Bay Area itself is a small part of California. But the gallery and the Bay Area itself have a lot to offer. The gallery looks very simple from the outside, but the interiors have a very refined modern look. This gallery seems very aesthetic to me because the interior of the building is very pleasing to the eyes. The soft lighting gives the gallery a calm touch. Finally, it is rare to have a circular gallery that starts from the ground floor but also extends underground. He made sure to make full use of all the space he had. The second item is the Della Walker House which was designed by Wright in 1951. This house is located in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. The house is a beautiful beach house with a triangular foundation covered in the famous Carmel stones, which allows the building to blend into its surroundings. The house also includes numerous windows that allow you to enjoy the magnificent view of the beach. The interior of the house includes a touch of wood on the ceiling and floor of the house. The interior of the house also included a fireplace, a small kitchen and a hexagon-shaped feature. This building reflects the California lifestyle, as Californians are known for spending their free time at the beach on warm and sunny days. This house really gives off a beach vibe due to its location and surroundings. This house is very aesthetic in my opinion because this house is very beautiful inside and out. One thing that really sparks interest in this home is its location. As the house faces the beach, the entrance to the house is towards the secondary road. The house also included a stone sculpture located at the front of the house, which seemed interesting to me as I had never seen a sculpture of this shape. I have always dreamed of owning a house on the beach side. There were many similarities and differences between the two buildings. The difference I noticed between.
