Essay / Ethics in the Workplace - 1936
Ethics in the Workplace"Ethics is both personal and, at the same time, a very public manifestation of your attitudes and beliefs. It is because of your ethical beliefs that we humans can act differently in different areas in situations” (University of Phoenix, 2007). poor ethics can harm their career, their happiness and their quality of life Not only can these actions hurt the person who made the bad choices, but they also, more often than not, hurt innocent people. of real cases; one of positive ethical principles and the other of poor ethical principles. Ethics is the engine of good business. Every ethical choice made by a professional can and will have a very different outcome from any contrary choice. Poor ethics can ruin many aspects of a business and, as Gaye-Anderson, 2007 points out, how easily employees' lives and professional reputations can even be seriously damaged (paragraph 3). Everything from morale to motivation can be seriously affected by poor ethical choices. Customers will take their business elsewhere. Employees will abandon ship. Other competing companies reap the rewards of poor moral choices. Ultimately, the entire company can be destroyed by one poor ethical choice. Good employees see others not following ethical guidelines, causing them to lose confidence in their colleagues. Bad employees see the same thing and then believe they can get away with it. Both scenarios can cause horrible things to happen very quickly. It's even worse when employees see management taking the wrong path. It is managers who should set the example.
