  • Essay / The Importance of Colors in The Great Gatsby - 1105

Scott Fitzgerald used colors in The Great Gatsby to represent more than just images. Fitzgerald used colors to convey emotions, setting, and underlying tones for designs. The character of Daisy can be interpreted as a metaphor. We can relate the colors used to describe Daisy in the book to interpret her motivations and emotions through the dichotomy of a daisy flower. One way to interpret Daisy is that the green of the stem describes the structure of her character, the white of the flower describes what others see of her, and the yellow inside the flower describes what is there. actually has it inside her.
