Essay / Pfizer Analysis - 695
Pfizer is the world's largest research-based pharmaceutical company. With headquarters in New York and research headquarters in Groton, Connecticut, Pfizer also has one of the largest pharmaceutical companies by revenue. Founded by cousins Charles Pfizer and Charles Erhart in 1849, Pfizer has continued to grow. Research and development of new drugs as well as some key acquisitions, such as Wyeth, have played an important role in their growth. Pfizer uses three strategies in its 2012 annual report, which both reassures and proves why its company is elite. It uses bright colors to grab the reader's attention, bold text and numbers illustrate important phrases and figures, and images help ensure its investors achieve global success. First, Pfizer uses bright colors that evoke certain psychological emotions. The second page of the 2012 annual report uses an orange background. The orange color has very high visibility, so you can use it to attract attention and highlight the most important elements of your design. Additionally, orange is said to increase the supply of oxygen to the brain, producing an invigorating effect and stimulating mental activity. So it's only fitting that Pfizer uses orange to begin its annual report. Pfizer then uses the color blue as the background for CEO Ian Read's letter to stakeholders. Blue has a very calming influence on the eyes; and it is generally associated with depth and stability: two words that shareholders would be happy to associate with their investment. When emphasizing how Pfizer continues to be environmentally friendly, she uses the color green, commonly associated with nature. It also helps the reader to be the ass... middle of the paper... as the focal point, not the number. By effectively placing images throughout the annual report, Pfizer gives its shareholders the appearance of a friendly and reliable company. Using bright colors, bold text and cheerful images, Pfizer has created a highly readable annual report, which emphasizes the important elements, but without skimping on completeness. The bright colors provide a nice contrast to the easy-to-read text, the bold text helps draw attention to the important numbers that Pfizer is proud of, and the cheerful images present to the reader the image that Pfizer doesn't just care of progress and growth, but the number of employees who helped it achieve its goals. These three specific strategies that Pfizer uses throughout its annual report, with tact and good taste, help transform a boring report into a personal and enjoyable reading experience..
