    Netball is the most popular sport played throughout Australia. When you limit it to a school environment, you can usually distinguish girls who play netball from those who don't. In this essay I will explain how netball seems to have become more of a girl group than a sport. Schools with specialist netball programs are witnessing the differences between girls who play netball and those who do not. There are a few exceptions, but the vast majority of netballers fall into the “popular” group. Girls who want to fit in with the “popular” girls may feel pressured to play netball. This might be a good thing for their health, but cloning themselves is unhealthy. Stereotypically, there seems to be a certain type of girl who plays netball: the one who follows the crowd, wants to fit in and be like everyone else. You can sometimes tell if a girl plays netball just by the way she does her hair and makeup, usually all other netballers look the same.
