Essay / Environmentally Friendly Construction - 1283
Statistics presented by the Environmental Protection Agency claim that buildings in the United States contribute approximately 40% of the country's total carbon dioxide emissions (2 ). Green building is the construction process carried out in a way that conserves natural resources and reduces the harmful impact of construction on the environment. Green building includes environmentally friendly design, construction, maintenance, renovation and demolition. Greenhouse gas emissions are the release of gases, such as methane and carbon dioxide, into the atmosphere. Construction waste management is the concept of reducing, reusing, recycling and designing to use as few resources as possible and minimize the amount of waste. Eco-friendly construction will have a positive impact on the environment by reducing pollution, reducing waste, energy conservation, water conservation and use of environmentally friendly building materials. Eco-friendly construction will have a positive impact on the environment by reducing environmental pollution. According to Sarah Bucci, green building “will prevent the emission of 52.2 million tonnes of pollution linked to global warming each year by 2030, the equivalent of removing more than 9.2 million cars from the road » (paragraph 6). Greenhouse gas emissions are the release into the atmosphere of gases that are harmful to the environment. These gases contribute to global warming and climate change because they block heat from passing through the ozone layer. This suggests that by constructing environmentally friendly buildings, the impact of greenhouse gas emissions will be significantly reduced. If more construction companies were to build greener, it would mean eliminating pollution caused by millions of waste items...... middle of paper ......
