Jesus is now an appointed leader. Peter revealed this to Jesus after talking to God, so Jesus blessed him (Nelson, 2013). Isaiah 53:4-5 (New American Standard Bible) explains perfectly what Jesus did: “He himself has certainly borne our grief, and he has carried our grief; yet we ourselves esteemed him smitten, stricken by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced because of our transgressions, he was crushed because of our iniquities; the chastisement for our welfare has fallen upon him, and it is by scourging that we are healed. He was pierced for all our sins and bore our sorrows. Humans deserved to be punished, but Jesus took the punishment for us. Jesus died to heal humanity. According to this reading, the Christian worldview is based on Jesus. If He had not died on the cross and risen from the grave, Christianity would not be a worldview like the one we have today.
