Essay / Compare and Contrast Paper Books and Paper Books
For example, the number of people who have licenses to offer an e-book are few and do not understand exactly what is required. According to Rio (2003), “most e-book sellers do not seem to understand the needs of libraries or are not properly licensed” (p. 89). Those who supply books, other than manufacturers, do not need a license to sell the books and do not need to have experience selling books. Furthermore, paper books are available even in the most deprived places on the planet, but e-books are not. According to Rio (2003), “dedicated readers are not widely available worldwide” (p. 89). Additionally, e-books have a problem known as “copyright”, whereas such a problem is not encountered in paper books. According to Rio (2003), “resale rights are different from when a book is purchased…….e-book distributors reassure publishers of their intellectual property rights by providing a highly controlled user interface, without making it too cumbersome and too heavy for users. users” (p.89). Due to copyright, the contents of the electronic version are not always printable and this is not a disadvantage found when using paper.
