    What is a legacy? Is it strictly a visible and touchable object? An heirloom is not just an object that people can see; it could be a dream or an idea. Although his life ended tragically, John F. Kennedy was one of many presidents who served his term with compassion and dedication, and he also left behind an unforgettable legacy for generations to come. His legacy was both an idea and a dream that still affects many Americans today, as he made people believe that he would make peace between countries. “Let every nation know, whether it wishes us good or ill, that we will pay any price, bear any burden, face any difficulty, support any friend, oppose any any enemy to ensure the survival and success of freedom” (Kennedy). When he won the presidential election in 1961, he set goals for the United States that would amount to extraordinary events. Furthermore, he would overcome one of the most dangerous obstacles any president has ever faced. Although Kennedy endured many hardships during his childhood, he grew up to be an ambitious and successful man. He was born in Brookline, Massachusetts, on May 29, 1917, to Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy. However, to the public he was known as "Jack Kennedy". John F. Kennedy was also prone to illness. He suffered from many illnesses such as chicken pox, measles and whooping cough. However, that wasn't all he had to endure. Before the age of three, Kennedy was diagnosed with scarlet fever, a life-threatening illness. Fortunately, he recovered completely and continued to follow the routines of daily life (“John F. Kennedy”). Many people look back on someone's life and evaluate the importance of their life.
