A new tune started and, like the wave at a baseball game, the "ooohhs" and "aaahhs" from the crowd started on one side and ended on the other. From the corner I could see the top of a bald head. After they came around the corner of the crowd, I could see the wonderful sight of my beautiful new wife accompanied by her father, a tall, sturdy, slightly bald man. They walked towards me step by step, slowly but surely. It felt like time had slowed down as I waited for her to join me. Finally, after what seemed like years, I came out to greet my new father-in-law and my new wife. I shook his hand as he gave his youngest daughter away to start our own family, then I extended my arm to my fiancée. Together we walked the rest of the way to the driveway and stood in front of the pastor's house.
