  • Essay / Does the legalization of same-sex marriage hurt traditions...

In recent decades, the question of authorizing same-sex marriage has been a recurring subject of controversy. In the homes of same-sex couples, the need for equal rights is of great importance. Currently, many states prohibit the marriage of same-sex couples and do not consider marriage between same-sex couples to be an official marriage. These states support their claim by asserting that the Constitution defines marriage as the union between one man and one woman. Therefore, as defined by the Constitution, the marriage of a man and a man or a woman and a woman is unconstitutional. Anti-gay advocates view same-sex couples as unnatural and inappropriate. As of the publication of this article, the Supreme Court has not issued a national decision on same-sex marriage and the benefits of same-sex marriage. It appeared in the March 14, 2013 CQ Researcher publication: Volume 23, Issue 11, and is aptly titled “Gay Marriage.” This article shows the years of debate over same-sex marriage and examples of people affected by the current ban. CQ Researcher explores the laws governments have established to prevent same-sex marriage and the efforts made by gay couples to get rid of these laws. In order to win the vote of someone on the opposite side of the controversy, there needs to be enough evidence to prove that one side is superior to the other. Overall, George did not present a very strong and convincing argument for homosexuality. marriage undermines the traditional form of marriage. His reasoning for supporting his side of the debate was a reasonable one; however, George did not have the proper use of evidence to win the vote of his audience. In addition to his lack of evidence, George used propaganda methods to manipulate the public. Using propaganda methods to try to win a debate is not appropriate because it essentially amounts to lying to the public to gain a certain opinion. If he had used solid evidence and abandoned his manipulative methods, his argument would have been more effective in swaying his audience's opinion..
